Zetoc - informing research
Since its launch on 26 September 2000 Zetoc has expanded to give you access to over 28,000 journals, 45 million article citations and conference papers through the British Library’s electronic table of contents. Zetoc also includes Open Access journals from UK PubMed Central & BioMed Central.

Zetoc Alert automatically sends you emails listing the table of contents from particular journals and articles that match searches for authors names or keywords from article titles.

If you're new to Zetoc, or just want to make changes to your Zetoc Alerts, there are various guides and support information to help:
See Zetoc Support for more.

Using Web of Knowledge on your mobile

If you would like to use the Web of Knowledge/Web of Science database from your mobile, have a look at this guide.  You have to register for the service on campus, but then you can use it wherever you are.

DISCOVER - browsers supported

The Minimum Browser Requirements for DISCOVER (and for our other EBSCO databases) are:

Internet Explorer7.0 or later
FireFox8.0 or later
Safari5.1 or later
Google Chrome16 or later
OtherJavaScript, Cookies Enabled

If you are using an older version or a different browser, we cannot guarantee that DISCOVER will look and work correctly.

What is DISCOVER?

DISCOVER is your new single search solution that allows you to search most of our electronic resources and the library catalogue simultaneously and provides you with current availability information on library catalogue items.

DISCOVER is based on the EBSCOhost interface so will look familiar and can be searched in the same way as the EBSCO databases.

Once you have a list of results you can use the Integrated Search options on the right hand side of the screen to add results from other databases.

Results from any electronic resource can be saved to your personal My EBSCOhost folder, and your saved Preferences are available using DISCOVER.

For help with with using DISCOVER please contact your Academic Liaison Librarian.

Anatomy.tv - "anatomy.tv concurrent users limit warning"

We're currently seeing high levels of use of Anatomy.tv, and some users may be getting the "anatomy.tv concurrent users limit warning". This means that the number of University of Bedfordshire users at any one time is set by the database provider and when this has been exceeded you will see this error message. Please ensure you always log out of any session using the log out button as opposed to closing your browser - this will ensure that the next person is able to access Anatomy.tv correctly.

Dawsonera ebooks - problem and workaround

We are currently experiencing a problem logging in to Dawsonera ebooks via the usual links.  There is however still another way to get to the ebooks - go directly to www.dawsonera.com, choose "Enter your institutional username and password"

Then select University of Bedfordshire from the list.  You will get our login box and can then log in and search for ebooks as usual.

We expect that the usual links will be working again later today.

Getting to the full text of an article from British Nursing Index

Databases like British Nursing Index are indexes of citations, rather than collections of full text articles - so we do not necessarily have full text for each result. However, from the result list in British Nursing Index you can click the "LinkSource" button to find out whether or not we have full text access to that article.

In many cases we do - if so follow the link under "Resources Located for this Citation" and you will get through to the article.

Viewing Dawsonera ebooks on an iPad

We've had reports of some people having problems viewing Dawsonera ebooks on iPads. There is a free PDF reader built into the iPad which opens normal PDFs but not secure ones like those from Dawsonera.  If you want to read Dawsonera ebooks on your iPad, download the Adobe Reader for iPad.
